Surf, Sun and now OMG! Donuts.  Great news for Mount Maunganui residents and visitors as OMG! Decadent Donuts launches in the region.

OMG Donuts on the beach

Mount Maunganui local Aleesha Goudie is bringing OMG! Decadent Donuts to The Mount, having bought the territory Aleesha’s plan is to launch at ‘A Gluten Free Night Out’ 5th October at Coronation Park.  You can then expect to see OMG! donuts popping up regularly at farmers’ markets, festivals, and community events all around the area.

Aleesha said, “After spending some time in Auckland with OMG HQ NZ I’ve already seen the delighted expressions on people’s faces when they try these donuts, it makes me so happy to make others happy with a simple donut. They are delicious, but what I love most is that they are all-natural, with nothing artificial. My crew and I will be making them right in front of people, you can’t get much fresher than that!  I’m shouting out to all locals, if you’ve got a community event like a fete or a market, please call me.”

Renowned for inclusivity, our scrumptious, hot, fresh donuts appeal to everyone. Known for the soft, fluffy texture of the donut and unique menu of sugars that dust them, they are 100% natural, completely plant-based, and free from gluten, dairy, egg, wheat, yeast, nuts, and sulphites. The sugar dusting is made from real fruit, vegetables, and spices.

The donuts have an almost cult-like following and are especially beloved by those with dietary restrictions due to food allergies, intolerances, or cultural or religious beliefs that dictate specific foods.

OMG! Decadent Donuts New Zealand officially arrived here in June 2024, when Rod and Carmelle Palmer from Auckland bought the master licence.   The enthusiastic duo has a clear goal of becoming New Zealand’s number one national donut company, with Mount Maunganui being their first independent business owner, and many more to follow.

To bring this unique product to market in New Zealand, Rod and Carmelle are fostering independent ownership under a licensed business model across multiple territories in New Zealand. Carmelle said “There are almost endless options of where the donuts can be made and sold. Trading locations span a diverse range, from high-traffic traditional places such as short- and long-term kiosks in shopping centres and brick-and-mortar shops. But less traditional locations work brilliantly as well, with a mobile model trading at farmers’ markets, community events, and festivals.”

Aleesha added “I’m super thrilled to be the first independent business owner flying the OMG! flag.  I’ve never owned my own business before, so it is a little bit scary but I’m being so well taken care of by Rod and Carmelle with training and loads of support, so it’s also super exciting”.

A bonus for New Zealand entrepreneurs who take up the opportunity of owning a territory to make and sell OMG! Donuts is that under the licensed model, there are no royalties or levies paid. Entrepreneurs keep 100% of what they earn. It’s a low-cost entry for a turnkey business, with equipment, training, marketing assets, and start-up stock included.

Rod and Carmelle have proven the high demand for the donuts. Since they began trading at pop-up locations around Auckland, they’ve had long queues wherever they go.  According to Carmelle, “Many of our customers have had OMG! Donuts before while holidaying in Oz and are so excited to see us here. Others have never heard of us but literally follow their nose to the source of the delicious scent of hot fresh donuts cooking. We’re so grateful to be super busy and to bring smiles to Kiwi faces with our humble donuts.”
